ABOUT KENNETH

Kenneth (Kenny) King is a budding Australian media composer. Growing up on the island state of lutruwita (Tasmania), he studied composition and music technology at the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and was awarded First Class Honours as well as a University medal for his academic achievements. During his time in Tasmania Kenneth worked on projects with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) as a composer, arranger and engraver/copyist; on exhibitions and events with the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG); with local film-makers and game developers; and has also worked with numerous local artists and musicians. While completing his studies, he worked at UTAS teaching and assisting with music technology and composition.

His ambition to pursue film and media composition has since taken him to Sydney to continue his journey at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) where he is currently studying.

Especially knowledgeable in the art and practice of contemporary media composition and well trained in the use of state-of-the-art analogue recording equipment, his understanding of the multi-faceted composition, recording and mixing processes (from conception to delivery) sets him apart. His comprehension and experiences regarding many of the logistical challenges in film-scoring can be employed to help to steer a project in the right direction and keep it on course. Kenneth’s unique familiarity with recording and manipulating sounds through the use of music technology provides greater opportunities to attain a more diverse and layered musical palette. Kenneth is wholeheartedly dedicated to creating the best music for each project in total collaboration with the team.

Kenneth is also devoted to the development of a composing community that celebrates local, national, and global achievements. He is a proud founder of the Tasmanian Media Composers Collective (TMCC) alongside Finn Clarke and Matt Boden. Check out the TMCC via the link below.
